For the last 7 years I have been contributing to the brand March LA.B. March LA.B is a timepiece brand with headquarters in Los Angeles, CA and Paris, France. Chief of design is Jerome Mage, CEO and founder is Alain Marhic and I have been working as designer, developer and modeler for all of the watches produced by March LA.B. This was one of our earlier models, the 1805 pocket watch.
DESIGNWORK: Sketch/concept development, prototyping, digital compositions and product development.
March LA.B design aesthetics are a true tribute to the timeless elegance of vintage watches, focusing on the minimal, elegant and a lower-profile with balanced proportions complimentary with the style of today's urban dandy. March LA.B offers three collections with three distinct directions and styles, symbolizing the temperaments of its founders. The 1805 is a Napoleonic- inspired pocket watch, drawing from relics of past centuries. It is a true homage to the unmistakable style of the First French Empire
3D WORK: After completing illustrator orthographic views a 3D cad file was built for early stage prototyping. We had several rounds of rapid prototyping samples to get as close to the final product as possible and to correct any design flaws. Each time we narrowed down the sizing and certain design features. I also had to make sure to build the case to correctly fit the Swiss ETA 804.192 quartz movement.
